Cookies & browser storage

Last updated: September 14, 2026

Evolve MindMapper uses browser storage to provide the editor and the account features you request. There are no optional analytics or advertising tags in the current app, so there is no Accept/Reject consent popup. If optional tracking is introduced, its controls and this notice must change before that tracking runs.

Account security cookies

These first-party cookies are used on account flows, not to track you across websites. They are restricted to this host and set with Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax protections. Their values are opaque security references.

__Host-mm-session
Maintains your signed-in account session. The cookie lasts at most 24 hours; server checks can end access earlier. Signing out clears it.
__Host-mm-preauth
Binds sign-in, registration and recovery requests to the browser to protect those requests. It lasts 10 minutes and may be renewed when you request an account form.
__Host-mm-recovery
Authorizes a password-reset step after verification. It lasts at most 10 minutes and is cleared when the reset completes.

Map storage and recovery

IndexedDB databases keep local maps, imported file bytes, file-save references, recovery checkpoints, account-map cache data and pending changes. These can persist across browser sessions. They use names beginning with mindmapping-; the internal names are retained so existing work remains available.

Session storage remembers editor recovery state for a tab. Local storage may hold an account-invalidation message so signing out or changing an account can be communicated between tabs. These mechanisms do not load advertising or analytics services.

Your controls

You can block cookies or clear site data in your browser settings. Blocking security cookies prevents account sign-in and recovery from working. Blocking browser databases prevents local persistence and recovery. The local editor does not require an account.

Save important local maps to files before clearing site data. Clearing it can permanently remove local-only maps, unsynchronized changes and recovery information. It does not remove files already saved on your device or delete maps held in your account. Storage is separate on each browser, device and website address.
